Worship at Rutherglen URC
11am Morning Worship
Our worship usually explores a theme and comprises of hymns, prayers, scripture readings, and a sermon. On occasions we also use drama, monologues and music to help us reflect on the theme. We seek to use inclusive and easily understood language within our worship. There are activity groups for pre-school and primary school children each Sunday morning. The children gather in the church at 11am before going through to the Skye Room (a small room adjoining the church) to explore the theme in an age appropriate way. Later in the service they rejoin the adults in worship and show the adults what they have been doing. First Sunday of the Month 11.00am Morning Worship is a communion service. All are welcome to share in communion as we share the bread and 'the fruit of the vine' in a 'meal of remembrance and thanksgiving'. The bread is gluten free and the 'fruit of the vine' is grape juice. The Worship leader will give guidance as to when the bread is eaten and the grape juice is to be taken. Fourth Sunday of the Month our service is sometimes followed by a ’Souper Sunday’ (a soup lunch in the hall organised by the fund-raisers). [see the calendar for the dates of these] |
